Dear All,
Would request you to throw some light on the below queries :-

Waiting for your valuable inputs.
Hi,
I am using SFHA/DR on my Exchange server and our Mailbox node is VCS clustered and our active site is DR site i need to replicate the DR data to Primary. Is this possible or we need some extra command coz as i understand we can replicate the Data from Primary to DR. Kindly assist me in this scenerio.
If anybody have VVR technote regarding this query plz fwd it to me.
Hi,
In an enviroment of SQL databases in HA, using global clustering between two remote sites the following Symantec productos are used: Veritas cluster, Veritas Replicator and Backup Exec 2012.
In order to synchronize the volumes in the remote location it is necesary to generate a block-level backup to tape and send it to there... based on the following article:
http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO58828
How can I do a backup of that type using Backup Exec??
Thanks a lot.
HI,
I have a SF for windows with VVR in my infrastructure. I have 2 Node VCS Cluster of Exchange at Primary site and 1 Node VCS Cluster of Exchange at DR site without GCO. I have HP Storage at primary site with 13 volumes and NetApp Storage at DR site with 13 Volumes as well. Due to some problem at primary site my production is now at DR site means rite now my Secondary become primary and Primary become Secondary. So i replicate the data from DR to Primary using VVR and is running successfully.
Now i want to move HP from Primary site which is passive and install New NetApp and configure the volume at primary site(Passive) and i want to replicate the Data from DR(Acive) to Primary's(Passive) HP and as well as NetApp for the time being. Is it possible to replicate the data one to many means can i replicate the data from DR(Active) NetApp to Primary's(Passive) HP and NetApp??? My Bandwidth is good which is 10GB.
IF Yes? then how??.

Dear All,
- I've configured VVR Replication between 2 VM's which are working as one primary node and the other secondary node.
- But as soon as the replication starts, after some initial blocks are sent to secondary the resources utilization goes high on that VM and it crashes. The resource utilization goes high only during replication.
- On the secondary host, we've given 4 GB RAM and 1 CPU resources and we're using VSF version 5.1 SP2 on both nodes.
Can anyone let me know how can I get a VVR (Veritas Volume Replicator) demo license? I need to test this on dev environment so that they can buy if it works according to our need. This is to test on a VCS RAC cluster.

Hi all.
I have installed VVR on my two servers on the trail key. I have reecved the license keys but for the life of me cannot find out how to apply the new keys to VVR.
Can anyone help?
Thanks
Customer is interested in SFW and VVR.
He has installed VR Advisor (from SF 5.1SP2 software) on a number of Virtual servers (no SF yet) - VMware and Hyper-V. Some are W2008R2, others 2003. Some 64bit, some 32bit.
Out of 25 virtual servers with VR advisor installed, 18 are working fine, 7 giving errors:
OPERATIONS BLOCKS AVG TIME(ms)
TYPE NAME READ WRITE READ WRITE READ WRITE
Sat Jul 21 12:13:56 2012
vol C: 155 1770 3827 2341722 0 0
vol E: 0 78 0 600 0 0
Error 2(2) in sending the ioctl for device \\?\Volume{d1fb56f4-806f-11e0-8d31-806e6f6e6963}.
According to customer, there is nothing in common:
Some are win 2008R2, others 2003. Some 64bit, some 32bit. Some are on VMWARE while others are on Hyper-V. All systems are virtual however. Some systems give the error immediately, while others give the error after a couple of minutes.
Any idea where to start looking?
Hi all:
one of my customer want to build a disart recover cluster for oracle db on WAN. They choose an opensource DRBD solution before, but they got some trouble on it . We sugguest them to choose VVR to do this. But we are wondering how VVR can provide the data integration for oracle database files like control file and redo log in async mode. In DRBD async mode, when the primary node failed, sometimes the oracle database file (control file or redo log) on backup node will be corrupt because some block transmission lost.
Setting up VR replicated data set for the first time and received the message
"The selected Dynamic Disk Group does not contain any valid volumes which can be used for replication.
Note that Storage Foundation RAID5 volumes and volumes having Dirty Region Log are not supported."
I have an attached disk array that is configured Raid 5 but the volume is presented to VEA as a blank dive with no File format, so I am not sure if that is the problem. Also what is a Dirty Region log?
UPDATE: I see what the DRL is now and I do have that. If appears to have been create by veritas though when I first setup the diskgroup. How do I get rid of it?
ANSWER: I got it, what I had to do was blow away my mirrored Volume in the Disk group. When I create my volume I normally will select mirrored and let VEA take care of it but that is what creates the DRL file. I did the same thing for my Volume creation but didnt select Mirror. After the volume was created I right clicked and selected add mirror. No DRL, problem solved.
I have just begun to use VR. I have played with setting up a bunker and a secondary but not together.
Do I have me secondary replicate from my bunker?
Do they work completely seprate?
Once testing is done and I feild this my Bunker will be in the same data center as my primary and my Secondary will be in another state.
I am trying to create a secondary and I am having all sorts of connection problems. I have 2 routers in between my servers set to a 512k connection. I have a continues ping going in a Command Prompt and am getting back at 2ms with no time outs. But when I try to connect from server one to server two I get an error v-39-53247-7. After a bunch of attempts I can sometimes get connected and am able to configure the RDS. But again once the RDS for the secondary is setup and I click start the status changes from connected to Disconnect ever few seconds and replication never happens. Where do I need to begin my troubleshooting?
Addition note: This is server2008r2 running SFWHA 5.1 SP2 CP13
I ran that command "vxrlink -i 5 status rlk_mhsws001anp-1"and received this error V-107-58644-914. I cannot find anything on it.
I am using Veritas Replication on Windows Server 2008 R2,
Everyday at bootup in the morning, there is an error in event viewer, the error is:
vx boot: Disk group usb: Cannot auto-import group: No valid disk found containing disk group.
I am not able to identify the actual reason behind the above error.
Should I add a second secondary to my current RDS or do I need to have 2 RDS's for my Primary?
I have a few servers that are part of the RDS. The HDD on one of my secondaries died so when I replaced the HDD that server is no longer part of the RDS. When I try to add a secondary I get an error that IP already exists. How do I delete that secondary if it is not showing up in the RDS or how to I associate the new HDD?
This is a test enviroment which is why I did not have the drive mirrored, but as this could be a real problem I would like to know how to fix it.
Hi ,
In production site, I have 2 app servers connect to SAN Storage which is cluster using SFHA with active-active mode. i am planning to replicate the content of SAN Storage to DR site, which consists one 1 app server connected to a SAN storage. The main purpose is to replicate contents of the SAN storage at Prod Site to DR site. App Server at DR site need not be clustered, SFHA/DR is not neccessary . Will the following solution work:
Production site
App Server 1 -- SFHA + VVR
App Server 2 -- SFHA +VVR
DR site
App Server - SF+VVR
1. can VVR integrate with other cluster software such as Microsft cluster Service?
Thank you
